City of refugees

Miami would be a great place to settle refugees. There’s plenty of space and new development, there’s already a sizable Arabic-speaking population that can make the transition for Syrians and Iraqis easier and there’s a culture of acceptance of immigrants.

Some of the earliest refugees to the area were Jewish, but we have also welcomed large groups of Cubans, Colombians, Nicaraguans, Haitians and Venezuelans. I think that we would barely notice 10,000 Syrians.

Miami should change its slogan from Magic City to City of Refuge.
