Too many shootings

I dearly appreciate Fabiola Santiago’s Dec. 6 column, America, the land of mass shootings. She cites a harrowing statistic of 355 mass shootings this year as of the San Bernardino massacre. This includes the shooting in Savannah, Georgia that occurred earlier that day. This figure comes close to one mass shooting a day in the United States in 2015.

Those who worship the Second Amendment need to understand that those who support gun-violence prevention don’t want to take everyone’s handguns. We just want to keep guns and assault weapons out of the hands of “the angry, the insane, the vindictive, the criminals and home-based terrorists” that Santiago valiantly names.
