Reason for killings?

Recently, educational institutions, religious institutions, military installations, workplaces, movie theaters, and other public gathering places have been the scenes of mass killings.

No type of public gathering place seems to have been spared.

What is the cause of the disturbing number of mass killings in the United States? Is it the NRA? No. The increase in gun owners and proliferation of automatic weapons? No. Lack of legislation regulating guns? No. Defects in our mental-health system? No. Political leadership or lack thereof? No. A significant decline in churchgoers? No. The cause of these mass killings is the alarmingly weakened state of our values system. When and why this has happened is unknown, but surely mass killings will not end until this issue has been addressed.
