Letters to the Editor

Kudos for Innocents Lost series

Miami Herald deserves raves for its Innocents Lost series, as well as the series about abuses in prisons. Well-researched and reported, the findings are appalling. They call for leadership.

I would have expected Gov. Scott to stand up and scream that these abuses are unacceptable and he won't stand for it any longer. He would appoint a blue ribbon committee of professionals from academia, medicine and social services and issue bulletins and updates every month in a press conference announcing changes and progress. Instead, what I have seen is just shifting the deck chairs.

Step up, Governor.

Dick Blattner,

Hollywood City Commissioner

The death of Florence Knoll Bassett, even at 101 years old, is a sad event for me as I remember the many years of our design relationship, working on numerous projects.

My company represented a diverse range of European producers of decorative tile and architectural hard surface materials, like marble, granite and travertine.
