Cuba-U.S. deal

I don’t think that the American and Cuban people know all the facts behind this agreement between their two countries, the reasoning behind the spontaneity or what the ramifications will be.

That said, I think we’ve had good trade relations with Communist China, and with Vietnam. I’m looking at the bigger picture. I’m thinking that the United States didn’t do this for the fun of it.

The U.S. government had many chances during more than 50 years to do something — anything — about the situation. I’m wondering what North Korea, Russia and China have to say about this.

Only a couple of months ago, the U.S. government intercepted a Cuban ship with old Russian MiGs heading to North Korea. I think that partnership is questionable to say the least.

The Chinese are drilling for oil 98 miles away from Cuba with Cuban authority. I think this should be very troublesome for the United States.

I’ve been a Republican since 1981 when I was asked to register in front of Miami Senior High. I’m an American made of Cuban parts.

I support President Obama in his decision. I never thought I would say or write these words, but that’s my opinion.
