No need to close I-95

For quite some time I have been advocating with several of the local roadway entities the installation of openings in the center median divider of Interstate 95 and several other high traffic volume roadways, like State Roads 826 and 836.

The idea is to reroute vehicles in the opposite travel direction whenever needed during a major incident or to be used by emergency vehicles whenever needed. But our suggestion has fallen on deaf ears.

Perhaps this recent incident may prompt reconsideration and implementation by all of the respective roadway entities in order to hopefully avoid total traffic gridlock and mayhem whenever the next major incident occurs on all the main expressways throughout Miami-Dade.
