Lift the embargo

Re the Nov. 20 letter Cubans still flee: Cubans continue to leave the island because of the frustration caused by “appalling economic incompetence accumulated over decades,” as the letter writer says. But the main obstacle to reversing so many decades of frustration remains the childish obduracy (not to mention incompetence) of those who want to keep the embargo in place, simply in order to continue bragging about their ever more shredded political clout in the United States.

To stop Cubans from fleeing the island, every Cuban who prioritizes Cuba’s future over his or her own ego should be working hard to lift the embargo and remove the Cuban Adjustment Act.
