Immigrants betrayed

The United States has always been a haven for the world’s refugees, and faith-based organizations play a large role in that welcome.

We have a safe, secure resettlement process through which we should continue that life-saving tradition.

Welcoming refugees isn’t only the American way, but also an important part of our churches’ calling and a key component of our nation’s tradition.

To reject refugees who are fleeing for their lives from Syria and other repressive countries is a betrayal to our duty as a nation of immigrants. If out of irrational fear or political opportunism we stop welcoming the stranger, we may as well invite ISIS to bomb the Statue of Liberty in our name.
