Lack of leadership

The Nov. 18 editorial, Heed the lessons of missteps in Iraq says that in 2013 “Republicans and Democrats rejected the administration’s plans to carry out airstrikes against the government of Syria” fails to mention that the reason for the opposition was that they felt the effort would be totally inadequate and ineffective.

Second, it should be acknowledged that most of the governors opposed to admitting Syrian refugees have legitimate concerns about added burdens on the social and welfare systems and, most important, the safety and well being of their residents.

Now, to address the vacuum of decisive and effective foreign policy at the top: Lead, follow or get out of the way!
