Be fair to Pitts

Re letter writer Mark Minervino’s response to Leonard Pitts’ Nov. 11 column, Lament for a 9-year-old targeted for murder: I read the editorial page daily and hesitate to respond to readers’ letters. However, I felt compelled to share my views.

My thought on the reader referring to Pitts as having a “one-track mind,” is simply this: Unless you have walked in the shoes of a black man in this country, then you can’t imagine our journey.

This comes from a black man in his 70s, who is a retired university professor.

Let’s be fair to Pitts. I have read many of his columns and I don’t believe, for a minute, that he blames black-on-black crime on white America.
