Wants own home

There are thousands of displaced elderly citizens in South Florida. I am one of them. I lost half of my income by July 2014 and my Social Security is not enough for me to rent anywhere.

I’m diabetic with related illnesses, but ambulatory and self-sufficient. I lived with my now adult children briefly in a government project. I stayed seven months, got a job and moved on.

I became disabled 2006. I still kept my rented apartments. Since July 2014 I have not found one single government program that can help me leave my daughter’s home. I’m unhappy, she’s unhappy.

Why not have a Section 8 program for disabled/elderly adults? I am tired of seeing no light at end of the tunnel.

Carmen Jones-Pizzaro,

Hollywood
