WWII women

Thank you to Katie Lepri and Christina Mayo for their heart-warming tribute to the other oft-neglected heroes of WWII — women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces (Women of WWII: Their call to duty, Dec. 7).

My mother served as a Navy WAVE during that war where she met my father, who also served in the Navy. The article is a poignant send-off, as our family prepares to inter their ashes in a military cemetery later this month.
