Fumbled farewell
On Saturday night, I received a call from North Shore Medical Center from hospice care telling me that my family member was failing and that I should come quickly. I did.
I went to the emergency entrance as I was told and I waited for a security guard to escort me. I waited for more than an hour and, finally, the guard came. My family member passed away during that time. The security guard was watching a football game during that hour that I waited. I guess seeing the end of a game is more important than for me to say goodbye to my loved one. North Shore needs to get its priorities in order.
