Shameful arrest

An incident of police brutality that occurred at Spring Valley High School in South Carolina has brought about many hateful social-media comments. A school resource officer who forcefully slammed a teenage girl out of her chair is a matter of violence, disrespect and cruelty.

Officers of the law are supposed to protect, serve and be an example for the younger generation. This incident hurts me to the core of my being. Though I don’t know the full story, I believe that all police officers should be well trained and qualified to use safer methods of arrests. It was right for the school resource officer, Ben Fields, to be fired.

As a feminist and a social-media activist, I believe that police brutality is a serious matter and should be stopped. Fields’ firing is the first step to recovery.
