I read the Dec. 4 article, Some enrollment worries remain in Obamacare year 2, and would like to point out that consumers in Miami are not limited to obtaining enrollment assistance from navigators at the Health Planning Council, Cognosante or Epilepsy Foundation.
For two years, HRSA has supported Certified Application Counselors at federally qualified health centers nationwide.
In Florida, that means that there is a network of 51 nonprofit community health centers with approximately 380 sites and more than 400 Certified Application Counselor staff trained exactly for this purpose. There are 13 such organizations throughout Miami-Dade County alone.
Consumers can find their local center by going to www.fachc.org and making an appointment with the Certified Application Counselor nearest to them. A quick reminder: enrollments or renewals must be completed by Dec. 15 if consumers want coverage to start on Jan. 1.
