Re the Nov. 23 article FSU shooter's friends tried to get help for him months before the shooting: Mental-health issues are more of a crisis in this country than Ebola and should be treated as such.
Something should be done to commit people to mental-health facilities for treatment when they are sick instead of worrying about their civil rights. Today, if someone refuses treatment, then that’s it and they are free to go. Next thing you know they are shooting up people just like the FSU killer did. This is where the time and money should be spent.
The streets are filled with homeless people suffering from mental-health issues and with nowhere to go. I see so many of them on my daily ride to work on U.S. 1 through Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale.
It is terrible.
