Socialist USA

Would a Bernie Sanders presidency mean a socialist United States?

Not to worry, our country has already had socialist policies for a long time. Just think about Social Security or Medicare, some of the most successful and popular government programs ever. Moreover, socialist policies saved our capitalist system from collapse twice, during the Great Depression in the ’30s and the Great Recession in 2008.

In fact, virtually all modern democratic countries are governed by a mixture of capitalist and socialist ideas. It’s just a matter of balance between them.

Let’s face it, when it comes to current pressing problems, such as wealth distribution, fair pay and taxation, universal healthcare, affordable education or criminal justice, the United States is badly in need of more balance.
