Racist want ad

While I’m grateful that it was reported, I find it humbling that there is still a need to even have to report on this.

I am referring to two Oct. 20 articles, Firm apologizes for ‘No Haitians’ nursing job ad, pertaining to an open nursing position in Rockland County, New York and Mississippi lawmaker apologizes for ‘black-judge’ comment.

What century are we in? Isn’t it time we get over racist comments and actions? I can only wonder if those making the comments were alive during the era when those types of statements were acceptable.

It’s a shame that we must continue to teach African-American children to “watch their backs.”
