Miami City Manager Daniel Alfonso cited concerns about the extent of private investment in bringing the Miami Marine Stadium back from the grave. The City Commission is suddenly concerned with revenue projections in a project that would have been almost completely funded by private investment.
This jewel sat abandoned, neglected and making not a dime for the city for decades. The city made a grave error in letting this stadium rot, yet officials are concerned about revenue numbers and how much someone with a vision has invested in it. The city failed at protecting this prime waterfront asset and now it wants to hold back progress, long overdue, by those with a vision.
Miami politics at its finest, once again.
