I don’t understand José Azel’s logic in his Oct. 16 article, When did ‘freedom’ become a dirty word? Azel accuses Pope Francis and the representatives of the United States of creating a “moral hazard” by not using the word “freedom” when discussing Cuba.
How does not using this word cause the pope and this nation to “not have to suffer the consequences of our decisions?” Azel seems to believe that Cuba can achieve its freedom through others’ use of a word.
No, Cuba will be free only when its people have the courage to demand it and fight for it.
