Letters to the Editor

Compromise is needed

I’m sure you will get a lot of mail in response to letter writer George Miller’s end of liberalism comments. The “mandate” Republicans are gloating about is the lowest turnout of voters in decades — some mandate!

Obamacare is saving lives. Millions who were not insured are now getting the care they need, the deficit has been cut in half, gas prices are at an all-time low and unemployment is down.

There is no “wave.” People vote against their best interests for some unknown reason.

The Republicans can have their moment now, but liberalism is anything but dead, and if Republicans don’t compromise with Democrats, there will only be an end to our country as we know it.
