Denying the obvious

The left thinks fewer guns would reduce gun violence; the right thinks more would. There is a lot of empirical evidence for the former, but none for the latter.

The left thinks climate change is real and happening fast; the right thinks it is a hoax. Again, there is empirical evidence for the former, and little for the latter. The right still believes in “trickle-down” economics, a theory that has been debunked by empirical evidence.

It is depressing to realilze that irrationality and economic self interest are still major drivers of human activity, especially in an advanced country like ours. If this irrationality continues unabated, it does not bode well for the future of our planet.
