Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, a medical doctor, supports Medicare for All and so does a growing movement of young doctors.
Oct. 1 is a national day of action for the Medicare for All movement, and we hope voters will consider what this means for our country. Among 30 free-market countries, the United States is the only one without universal healthcare and the only one with out-of-control healthcare costs. Their average cost per person is 40 percent of ours. The United States was 47th in 2008 and is now 51st in life expectancy among the world’s countries. Many Americans go broke from healthcare costs, while care is a human right elsewhere. Isn’t it time for a change?
