Have the militarists Carly Fiorina, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, and Donald Trump in advocating a vast increase in our naval and ground forces considered where the sailors, soldiers, and Marines to fill the ranks will come from?
Have they envisioned that our young men and women will rush to recruiting offices filled with martial ardor to do battle?
Perhaps these four students of military history and strategy know that to provide the man — and woman — power to accomplish the mission, conscription is necessary. But even these brave presidential candidates dare not utter that word, especially when, as polls show, the American people have no stomach for foreign wars.
If any of them is elected president, he or she will make the United States strong and respected again by putting its youth in harm’s way.
