It’s disheartening to see the kind of venom that is coming from so-called fans of the University of Miami that includes banners flying at every game calling for the termination of Al Golden.
The “U” is my alma mater and I get angry when our defense allows big plays and our offense cannot convert on third downs. Many times, I want to fire Golden, too. But after the game I reflect on what Golden has done for the U. He took over from previous coaches a program that was in decline. When Golden got this job, we learned about the NCAA investigations. He could have bolted, but he stayed. After several years of NCAA’s cloud hanging over the program, we can now move forward.
Give Golden at least two more years with his complement of players and coaches. He deserves it. Our return to glory is coming. If not, I will be piloting the plane with the “Fire Golden” banners. In the meantime, Go, Canes!
