The Dadeland South Metrorail Station is an embarrassment for Miami-Dade County and a nightmare for transit users.
The elevator that transports passengers to the train platform has been out of service for three weeks and the escalator service is intermittent.
The elevator issue is by far the most annoying for cyclists, people with baby strollers, in wheelchairs and on crutches — all of whom I have seen navigating the stairs with the assistance of fellow Metrorail passengers.
I’ve contacted the transit office only to be placed on hold after a lengthy transfer process, and also via the online comment option where the response was that I should ride my bike to a station where there was an operational elevator.

Transit needs to step up their game to properly service the growing number of residents who are opting for bikes, buses and trains instead of automobiles.
