History and Trump

I actually like that Donald Trump is speaking his mind about issues so important to his followers, even though they’re probably not the views that the rest of the United States holds.

The GOP as a whole is losing a major opportunity to gain much-needed Hispanic voters by not forcefully denouncing him.

Immigration has been an issue for centuries, Trump didn’t invent it. As a Wampanoag whose ancestors met the Pilgrims as they rowed ashore from the Mayflower, I still believe the United States is big enough for all who can move us forward. We didn’t become the great nation that we are by closing our borders, but by opening them.

Donald Trump needs to shut up and listen to a history lesson he may have forgotten. His family immigrated here for a reason.
