Pot is not Jamaica’s

Re the Aug. 17 article Police seize over 1,000 pounds of pot: While not disputing the story, I know that there are details that were omitted that would place the story in the appropriate context.

According to reports from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, two containers were found that contained a total of 16 packages of marijuana with a weight of 1,022 pounds. The items were found in two containers that arrived on the island on July 26 from China and on Aug. 7 from the United States. The containers were scheduled to depart for Suriname and the Netherlands, respectively.

While no arrests have been made, investigations continue into the matter.
