Overpriced drugs
During a recent trip to Spain, I lost a 25 milligram bottle of Lumigan, an eye prescription for which, with my insurance, I pay $30 a month. Several years ago, at home, I lost the same prescription, and paid, without insurance a little over $100. Today, my local pharmacy reports the cost has risen to $181.
But in a Spanish pharmacy, without a prescription or insurance, I paid 31euros, about $35, to replace the lost prescription for a bottle that was 25-percent larger. Why are we letting the drug companies get away with that?
