Work on our problems

The audacity of some politicians amazes me, especially in making demands concerning human rights in Cuba. Have they read the Aug. 9 article Caged crusader, on the investigation into our jails?

Prisoners are being raped, tortured and scalded to death. Racial tensions are sweeping the country. An estimated 69 people a day are dying from gunshot wounds.

How many politicians have been charged with corruption? What about our own governor taking public money to resolve his own legal issues?

Even worse, money for the purchase of land to help restore our precious Everglades is being diverted elsewhere.

Senators, representatives and would-be presidents: Do your jobs! Your time should be invested in our country and our problems, not Cuba’s.
