Alvin Burger was my mentor
On Aug. 11 I read an article about the passing of one of my mentors, Alvin Burger, whom I loved and admired.
There are good men and there are great men, and he was both. I carried the torch of his professionalism and ethics through my entire career; first in his company, then as a government official and now as an entrepreneur.
I will never forget his leadership and compassion. Fortunately, I had the honor of telling him this in person more than 30 years ago while sitting in his living room. It is a privilege to have known him and his family.
