Voter ID not needed
I must point out the utter absurdity of letter writer Buddy Newman’s comparison of requiring photo ID to vote with the requirement to have photo ID to cash a check at a check-cashing store.
All citizens have a constitutional right to vote whether they have photo ID or not.
No one has a constitutional right to steal someone’s identity and be able to cash checks without any ability for authorities to trace the transaction. Check-cashing stores have long been the laundry of choice for identity thieves.
Let’s not have yet more stringent requirements, please.
