Consider Jim Webb

As the 2016 presidential field has taken shape with a Clinton/Sanders-dominated race on the Democratic side while the Republican race resembles a Donald Trump reality-TV show, disaffected voters might want to learn more about former Democratic Sen. Jim Webb (@jameswebb.com).

Webb distinguishes himself from other candidates as a decorated Vietnam veteran and writer with a track record of serious independent thought, from prison reform to foreign affairs. Webb wrote five months before the Iraq War began that the invasion would be a strategic blunder of historic proportions, would empower Iran, unleash sectarian violence and require a decade-long military commitment and sacrifice.
