Homeless in harm’s way

Re the July 25 article, Girl shot in drive-by recovering: The Homeless Trust Chairman Ronald L. Book, in my opinion, put this family in harm’s way by placing them in an area well known for crime and various drug-related activities.

Ask almost any citizen of Goulds about the history of the village.

Who did the research of the area before this family was placed? According to The Herald, the family was located in the area only three days. I feel so sorry for this family and their suffering.

The next time the Trust decides to place a family in the Goulds area, maybe they should ask some of the remaining social service providers in the area such as the Goulds Community Action Advisory Board, the Coalition of Ministers & Lay People and Majestic's Youth & Arts Academy about the many challenges that exist in the community.

Phillip Murray Jr., former Goulds CAA board member, Homestead
