Teacher salaries

Alberto Carvalho forgot to include any salary increase for teachers and employees in his announcement of how his new budget will be distributed this coming school year. (Miami-Dade school district budget advances, July 30) Also not mentioned were any possible bonuses for teachers who have been effective under the new, ridiculous performance evaluation tool.

Advances in technology are a necessity in our community, but teachers also have to stay abreast by getting educated on how to implement these new technologies in our curriculum, as well as staying abreast of any new advances in our own area of expertise. We embrace continuous education because of our passion for our students, but we also deserve to be recognized with the improvement of our salaries and benefits.

Carvalho has always described the high respect and admiration that he has for teachers; when will he compensate them?
