Religious zealots

No matter how desperately Republicans pander to Jewish voters, they haven't been very successful; the 70 to 80 percent Democratic vote has remained steady. Perhaps they're looking in the wrong place.

The problem lies, as usual, within their own party, especially at it's base.

Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has revealed it all.

As a religious-right minister, he supports the Christian myth regarding Jews returning to Israel; thereby, his extreme rhetoric. However, that can easily be recognized as disingenuous when it's seen to be a self-interest.

The argument has also been made that many Jews resent the same zealots for proclaiming our country to be a Christian nation, just what the founders took pains to avoid.
