Youth coach screening
Accused child molesters are entitled to the presumption of innocence in criminal court. They aren’t entitled to the presumption of innocence when applying to be youth sports coaches.
So I was shocked when I read the July 25 article, Youth baseball coach is accused — again — of child molestation, that reported that the Cooper City Optimist Club allowed David Solomon to be a coach despite his multiple previous arrests. Apparently, the club's policy is to screen out only those who have been convicted of a crime. That is an idiotic policy.
