Input needed sooner

We elect our representatives to meaningfully participate in the formulation of governmental processes. Too many of our representatives would rather play the role of spoiler than give meaningful input as the process takes place.

Biscayne National Park spent 15 years formulating a management plan for the park that is now ready for implementation. During that time park management held numerous public hearings and repeatedly elicited written comment at each stage of the process. I submitted my written input 10 years ago.

Now Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen has declared that the plan is a “potentially flawed decision-making process” that needs further scrutiny. Where has she been for the past 15 years?
