Hoping for democracy

James Williams and Ric Herrero’s July 20 Other Views column, Hope takes over Havana, suggests that all Cuban hardliners who do not agree with the manner in which the Obama administration is handling normalizing relations with Cuba are political dinosaurs not in tune with the struggles of the Cuban people.

I agree that the Cuban issue will not be resolved without dialog, but I also believe that human rights should be first and foremost part of any conversation. I also agree that the embargo needs to end since the Castro regime has utilized this to distract attention from its failed economic revolution.
