Daisy Baez is best
Although the Miami Herald does many things right, I take exception to the editorial recommendation of the incumbent in Florida House District 114, which seems based on the fact that Erik Fresen has already been in Tallahassee several terms and has amassed power. But it is important to examine how he uses his power.
Shouldn’t repeated ethical problems and gray areas rule him out from endorsement?
As a voter in District 114, I have given up on trying to get a sincere or helpful response from his office when expressing my concerns about his politics regarding education, including unworkable merit-pay strategies and self-serving diversion of public funds.
His challenger, Daisy Baez, has a good reputation. She would certainly be more attuned to individuals and businesses in our community. The Herald praised her as “impressive” and displaying “the know-how to hit the ground running in the Legislature.” This is the kind of representative we deserve.
