Conservative viewpoint
The conclusions of Graciela C. Catasus’ letter, GOP is devious, are not only false and offensive to most conservatives who believe in fiscal restraint, but demonize all persons who believe in states’ rights as guaranteed under the Constitution.
This isn’t because they seek to block social programs, but because they strive to protect the freedoms and opportunities given to all Americans, regardless of social class, racial or ethnic origin. Perhaps Catasus should reconsider her position now that it has been widely reported that the Affordable Care Act actually increased the cost of medical care and health insurance premiums and that the economic programs designed to improve the lives of minorities and the poor have failed.
The inefficiency of such costly social programs is best demonstrated by the disaster Baltimore has become because of such failed economic policies, as well as the soaring unemployment of minorities during the past six years of the current Democratic administration.
