Illegal immigrants
What drives illegal immigration? Why do these people leave their homes and take the risk of coming here illegally?
In the vast majority of cases they come here to improve their economic condition. In order to improve your economic condition as an illegal you must find employment and earn an income. Therefore, somebody in this country is providing employment and an income to these illegal immigrants. Otherwise, why come?
Given that we tend to criminalize almost anything that we see as a threat, why not criminalize the employment of illegal aliens and impose such severe penalties on those convicted of said crime, so that no illegal can gain employment? As harsh and as truculent as that solution is, I think that it would remove the incentive for new illegals to cross the border and incent those already here to return to their homes.
