The negative portrayal of and attacks on the Dominican people is finally too much for me when letter writer Steven Forester compares the situation on the island of Hispaniola to Nazi Germany.
It’s time to take a look at the other side of the coin: Dominicans don’t hate the Haitian people. The first to help the Haitian capital after the 2010 earthquake were the Dominicans, who also built schools in Haiti because they know that education is important in the development of that country.
The truth is that the solutions to the plight of the Haitian people will not be found in neighboring Santo Domingo, but in their own country.
