Research published in this month’s Science concludes what any 8-year-old will discover by playing with a water hose: Oklahoma’s increased earthquake activity is directly related to the underground injection of waste water from oil and gas operations there over the last several years.
Now that the Florida Public Service Commission gave FPL carte blanche approval to charge its customers for natural gas fracking, residents of the Sunshine State can now add earthquakes to hurricanes and floods as the price we pay for living in Big Money’s paradise.
