Limit access to guns
What tragedy will it take for Americans to say, Enough? E.J. Dionne makes salient points in his June 25 Other Views column, The right to be free from guns.
I want to feel free from the fear of guns in daily life. Gun-control opponents say: People, not guns, kill people. But can’t we see that it is the access to guns that makes the difference? The Sandy Hook Elementary murderer would not have used knives to kill the children, and the Charleston murderer likely would not have killed nine people if he had used a hand weapon.
Let us speak out for the freedom to be free of guns in public places. We accomplished that restriction with cigarette smoke. Isn’t gun violence more immediate and deadly?
