Traffic is certainly one of the greatest threats to our quality of life in South Florida. The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce has focused its attention on transportation with numerous workshops and critical-issues panels in a search for solutions.
While not a silver bullet, the addition of Tri-Rail to the soon-to-be constructed Central Station in downtown Miami for All Aboard Florida would certainly be a positive step in reducing the already-congested highway traffic through the region. Tri-Rail service to downtown Miami that can integrate with Metrorail and Metromover will reduce travel time, improve quality of life and worker productivity and serve as a catalyst for economic growth.
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring Tri-Rail to downtown at greatly reduced cost just makes sense. We owe current residents and prospective businesses contemplating relocation to South Florida every viable option to improve our public transportation portfolio.
