Something’s on fire

Re the June 22 article State agencies diverge on approach to climate change: Here we go again! The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, created by the electorate in 1999 as an independent commission — and not answering to our illustrious governor — holds regular seminars on climate change.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection, which answers to the governor, has significantly decreased its emphasis on climate change. In fact, it’s webpage Climate Change and Coral Reefs has gone unchanged for the better part of four years.

Hypothetically, when DEP and the FWC are sitting together in the lounging area of a home and notice noxious soot-like smog coming from the kitchen, the DEP says, “Somebody must have left a window open and we are witnessing the generation of residue from barbecue tinder oxidation,” while the FWC responds with, “Smell smoke? Let’s check it out! Could be a fire in the kitchen!”
