Candidates can lead
What I find incredibly disheartening following the slaughter in South Carolina is the unwillingness of major political figures to take unpopular positions and actually act/speak like leaders about guns, flags, and racism.
Mike Huckabee ducking the flag issue is one such blatant example of political cowardice.
Alexandre Auguste Ledru-Rollin said,“There go my people, I must find out where they are going so I can lead them.”
We should have leaders who inspire us with their words and ideas, not demean us and themselves by appealing to the lowest, basest fears and emotions.
