Beach Chamber has excelled in a tough year
During more than 30 years in South Florida, I’ve belonged to numerous organizations. The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce is one that’s truly exceptional. I’ve been a proud member for more than 17 years. I chair the Women’s Business Council, but I’ve also served as vice chair and chair of the Pillar Trustee Board as well as co-chair of the Tourism and Hospitality Council.
The chamber has done phenomenal work during this pandemic. The staff, led by CEO Jerry Libbin, has kept members informed of every nuance of state, county and city reopening regulations. Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber asked our chair, Robin Jacobs, to form an advisory panel of 50-plus business leaders from different industries to recommend the safest way to reopen each category of business.
Additionally, chamber staff, while working remotely, have consistently produced outstanding webinars and town hall Zoom meetings in collaboration with our city officials and staff. The chamber also has consistently produced meaningful online meetings featuring expert speakers on relevant topics for our committees.
In March, the chamber created a Coronavirus Business Relief Guide, which provides residents and businesses precise information on grants, loans, unemployment, and job openings. Partnering with the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, it launched a campaign encouraging consumers to order directly from restaurants rather than using costly third party apps. Atlantic Broadband, an amazing Chamber partner, runs the ad.
The Miami Beach Chamber has done a remarkable job in remaining relevant and empathetic not only to its members, but throughout the entire community. It deserves recognition for its outstanding work!
