Keep abortion safe
Once again, Gov. Scott has shown how ineffectual he is. With many serious issues facing Florida — families in poverty, climate turmoil, Flakka — he has zeroed in on what he fears most: zombie-esque hordes of women making safe reproductive choices.
What legislators have yet to figure out is that anti-abortion bills do not prevent abortions; they just prevent safe abortions. Women desperate for an abortion will still get them — just not legal and medically safe ones. In addition, by denying Medicaid expansion in Florida, he has denied many access to the only real abortion preventive: contraception.
Taking away easy access to safe medical choices at both ends of a pregnancy makes no sense.
